Pipelay Hold-Back and Bowstring Assessment

The project involved evaluating the structural integrity of the platforms when subjected to pipelay tensile Bowstring and Hold-back string loads with the current deck, risers, and equipment loads.

The scope of work and principles for the asessment include but not limited to the following:

  • Bowstring and hold-back pipelay approach to determine the impact on the structural integrity during pipelay,
  • Global structural analyses using SACS, STAAD Pro plate analyses to check local effect of pipelay pull load,
  • Determining limiting wave parameters for installation of pipeline without impacting  on the structural integrity of the jack structures,
  • Designing of minimal strengthening schemes for the optimum wave height as  necessary.
