
Projects involve non-linear finite element simulation of the behaviour of a mechancial clamp, used for the connection of a required strengthening member to the existing jacket structure. Clamp was designed using conventional and standard industry guidelines and formulas, for the clamp bolts and steelwork.
The geometric non-linear finite element modelling and analysis included modelling of the non-linear contact response of the jacket member and saddle plate. The FE analysis was used to determine the increase in bolt loads up to the design capacity of the clamp.
